What does this involve?
The Green Heat Innovation Support Programme (GHISP) provides grant funding, competitive procurement and other forms of support to help Scottish-based companies or companies looking to invest in Scotland develop innovative products, services or business models that address the challenges of green heating.
This support is for companies of any size that are looking to use existing green heat technology in an innovative way, with a focus on:
- product development
- industrial testing of new products
- systems integration
- manufacturing process improvement in the areas of:
- heat network component manufacturing
- heating product manufacturing, including all types of heat pumps and thermal storage
- energy efficiency product manufacturing
- enabling products manufacturing, such as, smart controls and/or digital
This support will be delivered through the following strands:
- research and development (R&D) grants - either through application directly to Scottish Enterprise for an R&D grant or feasibility study, or through the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (an EU programme)
- capital support grants - through the Regional and SME Investment Subsidy Scheme
- procurement - using competitive CAN DO calls for specific areas of technology requirement
Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government have developed this fund to encourage innovation activity that will support net zero ambitions in Scotland's heating sector.
Am I eligible?
Heat and manufacturing supply chain companies and companies that wish to expand or diversify into the green heating sector in Scotland are eligible to apply.
After you submit an expression of interest form, your company and project eligibility will be assessed.
All applicants must be companies, unless you apply through the Clean Energy Transition Partnership - in this case, academic organisations may form part of a consortium to apply with at least one Scottish-based company.
You must be based in Scotland or investing in Scotland, unless you apply under the procurement strand.
All eligible activities must take place in Scotland.
All applicants will be subject to a due diligence check on ownership and finances.
What does this cost?
It is free to apply for this fund.
This programme will follow set subsidy schemes, so the amount it will provide for a project will vary depending on which scheme is used and under which strand of support you apply.
If the programme does not cover your full project costs, you will need to be prepared to cover the remainder through other sources.
Who is this for?
Heat and manufacturing supply chain companies and companies that wish to expand or diversify into the green heating sector in Scotland.
How long does this take?
It takes around 4 to 12 weeks to assess applications, depending on the scale and complexity of the project.
