Graduate Placement Programme Moray

What does this involve?

This programme helps small to medium-sized businesses and social enterprises in Moray to employ a graduate for a defined project of up to 12-months. 

The graduate should receive a salary of between £21,840 and £28,000. Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) will cover up to 50% of the salary through this fund. 

Placements related to innovation, net zero, and fair work will be given priority. 

Each applicant will only receive funding for one graduate placement. 

The programme can help if there is an aspect of your business that would be more efficient if you brought in new skills, fresh thinking or additional resources, or if you have a project role in mind but are struggling to find the time or skills within your current workforce. 

Am I eligible?

Yes, if you:

  • are a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME), as defined in sections 382 and 456 of the Companies Act 2006, or a social enterprise 
  • are an applicant or a graduate based in the Moray area 
  • meet HIE’s fair work conditions for grant support – you can read about this on the HIE website  

Enterprises should have a have a defined and deliverable project that is based in the Moray area and will take up to 12 months to complete. 

You will need to pay a salary of between £21,840 and £28,000 to the graduate.

You should already have chosen a graduate, or be able to recruit and appoint a candidate. The graduate should be based in the Moray area.   

Large enterprises and businesses or social enterprises that are located outwith the Moray area are not eligible.

What does this cost?

You'll need to pay a salary of between £21,840 and £28,000 to the graduate, based on a 35-hour week. 

Highland and Islands Enterprise (HIE) will fund up to 50% of a graduate's gross salary for up to 12 months. You'll need to provide the rest of the salary yourself. 

You'll need to pay all salary costs upfront, then submit a quarterly claim to receive the percentage of the graduate salary HIE has agreed to fund.

How long does this take?

Graduate placements are expected to last up to 12 months.

 

Important information

As there is limited funding, organisations will initially be asked to submit an expression of interest. Once this has been reviewed, you may be invited to submit an application for assessment. 

The salary range supported is between £21,840 and £28,000 based on a 35-hour week.
