What does this involve?

The Falkirk Digital Development Grant provides businesses in the Falkirk Council area with financial support to help them develop and implement new digital systems to improve business performance and enable business growth.

This is a discretionary funding programme. The fund can cover up to 50% of a business’s digital expenditure, to a maximum of £10,000. The minimum eligible project value is £2,000, so the minimum grant amount you can receive is £1,000.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if your business:

  • has been trading for at least 6 months
  • meets the European definition of an small and medium-sized enterprise, with fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than £45 million
  • has not breached wider COVID-19 regulations or requirements
  • is not connected to a tax haven, as set out in the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020
  • is not in any debt to the council, such as for business rate arrears
  • operates on a full-time basis
  • is not in bankruptcy, liquidation or similar at the time you apply
  • is not a community group, not-for-profit organisation, voluntary or charitable organisation (except for social enterprises)

What does this cost?

You will need to cover all approved project costs upfront. You will receive your grant after the project is complete and you have submitted the required evidence of your expenditure.

The grant can cover up to 50% of your business’s digital expenditure, to a maximum of £10,000. You must be prepared to cover the rest of the cost from other sources.

Who is this for?

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Falkirk area looking for financial support to develop or implement digital systems to improve business performance and enable growth.

How long does this take?

Falkirk Council will aim to assess applications within 15 working days. After your application has been approved, you will have 3 months to complete your digital project and submit evidence of your grant spend. Once your evidence is verified, you will receive your grant payment.

Important information

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • the trading name of the business
  • the number of employees
  • your turnover
  • your export sales, where applicable
  • the proposed expenditure
  • your business bank account details
  • your latest set of accounts and management accounts
  • 2 quotes for each item to be purchased
  • a business plan that includes 2 years of financial projections

If a full business plan is not available, you can submit a mini business plan that includes:

  • an executive summary: a brief overview of your company proposals, including growth plans, and anticipated impacts of the project
  • details of your management and organisation: the management team, the company structure and management succession
  • details of your business, its history and products: a brief description and history of the business, its principal products or services, and any proposed developments
  • your market and competition: a description of the markets you target, including size, major customers and major competitors
  • 2 years of financial projections: projected cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheet for the next 2 years
